Morgantown, WV – MX Sports, producers of the AMA/Air Nautiques Amateur National Championships at Loretta Lynn’s presented by [Meyer, Jeremy] AMSOIL, and title sponsor of the 2005 Loretta Lynn’s Team USA at the Motocross des Nations, has announced the dates for the 25th Anniversary AMA Amateur Nationals.

The national race week begins on Monday, July 31, 2006, with practice in all classes. Motos begin Tuesday, August 1, 2006 and continue through Saturday, August 6, 2006.

To kick off the 25th anniversary celebration of the event, Loretta Lynn’s is backing the Team USA Motocross des Nations squad. Consisting of three Loretta Lynn’s graduates, Ricky Carmichael, Kevin Windham and Ivan Tedesco, the rejuvenated American team is a favorite to win back the trophy they last claimed in 2000.

"Loretta Lynn's is a really special place for me and my family, and we go back to the race every year just to enjoy ourselves," said Carmichael, who earned a then-record 10 AMA/Air Nautiques Amateur National Championships before turning pro. "Having them sponsor Team USA means a lot to me and my teammates."

As America’s largest amateur motocross event, the AMA/Air Nautiques Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s presented by AMSOIL has produced the majority of the champions that have represented Team USA in their 15 overall wins at the Motocross des Nations. Riders like Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, Jeff Emig and Travis Pastrana have places in the Loretta Lynn’s Hall of Fame as well as overall team championships at the des Nations.

Tomorrow’s champions are crowned at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch each summer – with the 25th Anniversary edition of the race kicking off on July 31st, 2006.

The AMA Air Nautiques Amateur National Motocross Championships presented by AMSOIL is the world’s largest amateur motocross race. In 2005, nearly 22,000 entries attempted to qualify in 33 classes for the event. The 2005 National was held August 1 – 6, 2005 at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Winning an AMA Amateur National Championship is considered the launch pad to a lucrative pro motocross career.
