Colorado Springs, CO - In a move to leverage motor sports involvement and technical information exchange, Ford Truck Motorsports and the AMSOIL sponsored Lovell Rock Racing team are proud to announce an agreement for the 2006 rockcrawling season. The details were hammered out early this month after the Lovell Brothers took claim to the UROC Pro Modified Championship in their Ford based rockcrawler.
Ford Truck Motorsports Team Leader Cliff Irey said "The Lovell Rock Racing team seems a prefect fit for our 'Learn on Sunday, apply on Monday' engineering strategy.
Brad and Rogers' engineering background, and Lovell's appeal to rockcrawlings' growing fan base will make ours a wonderful association." Both Brad and Roger Lovell are trained structural engineers. They plan to make maximum benefit of information that comes available to them. As part of the plan, the team's championship winning 1988 Ranger will be updated. When the Lovell Brothers '06 Ford Ranger debuts this winter, it will be sporting the latest styling, brand new graphics and Ford Ranger badges. "We work hard to keep the truck looking top notch. We're as excited about working with Ford as they are with us." said teammate Roger Lovell "we just went from shopping in the junkyard to shopping in the showroom!"
The agreement will mean a busy autumn designing the vehicle. "We take a pretty serious approach to the look of the truck, checking all angles and proportions." driver Brad Lovell said, "It's the details that really set it off".
While a huge step forward for the Lovell Team, the agreement is also significant to the sport. Interest from the likes of Ford Motor Company mark the rapid growth of rockcrawling over a small number of years. Lovell added, "It takes time to understand what racing and marketing are all about. We have matured as a sport and are finding ways to prove our value. We feel confident in the future of the sport and couldn't be in a better place than in our Modified Class 2006 Ford Ranger." "I understand there are many passionate Ford fans at rockcrawling events."
At Ford Truck, we enjoy meeting our customers. Within Ford product engineering we work to familiarize Dearborn based engineers and Leadership personnel - many of whom volunteer their time and expertise - with extreme use customer feedback". Says Irey, "With any luck, I'll be able to squeeze attendance at a couple of the Lovells' appearances into my 2006 schedule."
Being lifelong Ford fanatics, the Lovell Brothers are thrilled to be contributing members of the Ford Truck Motorsports Team. "We grew up in a Bronco and idolized the Ford Rough Riders. Everything just fits." said Roger. Stay tuned for the unveiling of the new '06 Ranger Rockcrawler at the Off-Road Impact trade show (Las Vegas, NV Jan. 19-21).
Until then, be sure to catch Team Lovell's Ford Ranger in action at Supercrawl IV.
