Brownstown, Ind. ~ Team AMSOIL late model driver Brady Smith just missed winning his first nationally televised race over the weekend. Smith, a Solon Springs, Wis. native, finished second at the Jackson 100 at the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Ind. on Saturday night.
With the Speed Channel cameras rolling for a future airdate, Smith rolled his AMSOIL backed Chevy Monte Carlo to a win in his heat race. In the 100-lap feature, “The Deuce” pushed his late model set-up to the runner-up spot. In his first ever Jackson 100 start, Smith just missed taking the checkered flag, finishing second to Don O’Neal by less than one car length.
Smith also raced at Brownstown on Friday night with a $2,000 to win unsanctioned event. Smith finished third in his heat race on the ¼ mile, semi-banked oval. Smith wound up 12th in the final rundown. He was also eligible for a special non-winners race on Friday night, which featured drivers who had never won a feature at the racetrack. Smith ended up second in that event.
Smith will be taking part in the three-day Scorcher 100 starting Tuesday, August 22 at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. Smith will also be racing this weekend at the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Ky. on Saturday night.
