Eckstrom Finishes Season On Top
AMSOIL rider grabs two top tens
 Superior, Wis. ~ Team AMSOIL/Scheuring Speed Sports received two top honors at the World PowerSports Association Banquet in Lake Geneva, Wis. on Sunday, March 19, 2006. “D.J.” Dennis Eckstrom of Duluth, Minn. finished the Snocross series with two top10 finishes in the 2005-06 season.
In the Pro Open standings, Eckstrom finished the year in third place with 485 points, just 35 points behind champion Robbie Malinoski and only 12 behind second place rider Ross Martin. Eckstrom finished the season with three podiums in the Pro Open class, including a win at his hometown track at the AMSOIL Duluth National. A crash in the final at Lake Geneva pushed Eckstrom out of second in the point’s race.
In the Pro Stock standings, Eckstrom finished the year in seventh place, just two points behind the fifth spot. He finished the season with three third place podiums in the Pro Stock class.
“The competition in the WPSA was at an all-time high this past season,” said AMSOIL Racing Coordinator Jeremy Meyer. “D.J was named one of the top ten riders of all time by Sno-X magazine, and he backed it up with two top ten finishes this year. I think that’s a true testament to both D.J. and the entire Scheuring Speed Sports organization on their dedication and commitment to the sport and one another.”
The AMSOIL/Scheuring team is based in Aurora, Minn. Team riders consist of Eckstrom and Duluth-native Carl Schubitzke. Schubitzke finished the season 19th in the Pro Open class and 20th in Pro Stock despite competing in only two rounds and missing the last round with a cracked rib and a broken hand.
