AMSOIL Late Model Series Creator
To Be Honored At LM Series Opener
Woody Budnick Hard Charger Award unveiled in Superior

Superior, Wis. ~ The AMSOIL Late Model Series returns to Superior Speedway for its eighth season on Monday, May 21, but the series will continue without its creator, Woody Budnick.  The Lake Nebagamon resident passed away last weekend in his home but left a legacy in local racing circles. Budnick first brought the idea of a late model series to AMSOIL in 1999.  It quickly turned into one of the most popular race series in the Midwest.

 “Woody was more than spokesman for dirt track racing here in the northland,” said Jeremy Meyer, AMSOIL Racing Coordinator.  “He truly was a fan.  He wanted the world to know how great local racing was in our region.  We wanted to honor him during Monday’s opener so we created the Woody Budnick Hard Charger Award.”

The $500 bonus will be awarded to the driver who moves up the most spots in the A-Main portion of the Late Model race on Monday night.  AMSOIL will also provide a season product sponsorship at the end of the year to the driver who moved up the most spots in all six races of the AMSOIL Late Model Series.

Hot Laps begin at 6:30 on Monday night.  AMSOIL will also be having a Pre-Race Party beginning at 5:00 p.m. in front of the grandstands.

AMSOIL will be working with media partner Fox 21.  AMSOIL will also be adding new sponsors to help improve the end of the year purse, including Superior Beverage, The Shack, Hannula & Halom, Didrickson Construction, Black Bear Casino, Ashland Ford and Tom Clusiau’s Motors.
