Sudden Impact Racing On-Track Updates

Both pairs of Sudden Impact Racing trucks and drivers have been hard at it over the last few weekends, showing no mercy against their competition on-track.

Long-time Sudden Impact ride truck driver David Fray made his driving debut a couple weeks ago in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada alongside veteran driver Sean Duhon.  Both drivers would struggle some during the Friday event (7/25), with both drivers departing earlier than they would have liked in racing.  Both drivers would rebound well in freestyle though, however it was not judged.  The following night would prove to be more fruitful for the team, with Duhon taking the racing win in the finals and both drivers laying down great freestyles for a packed house.  The Sunday event would see Fray becoming even more comfortable in the Sudden Impact machine, laying down a solid qualifying run and an even more solid racing pass in the first round.  Ultimately, however, it would be the veteran driver Duhon taking yet another racing win in the finals.

Meanwhile, in Escanaba, MI, the Double-J team of Jon Zimmer and John Killenger laid down yet another impressive weekend of racing and freestyle at the Upper Penninsula State Fairgrounds.  Zimmer would start the weekend off right by taking a wheelie contest win; just minutes later, Killenger laid down a gauntlet of his own and put his machine directly into the final round.  Zimmer would return to the limelight once again by pushing his truck to the limit to garner a well-deserved freestyle win. Saturday night's event (7/26) would be all Zimmer, as he walked his Amsoil-filled machine to a three-way of wins (wheelie, racing, and freestyle.)

This past weekend would see the team running a pair of Saturday night-only events.  Jon Zimmer would run solo in Monroe, MI, putting his well-oiled machine into the finals against veteran driver and chassis builder Dan Patrick in Samson, with Samson just edging Zimmer for the win.  Zimmer would cap off his evening with a rock-solid freestyle, a feat which is becoming Zimmer's calling card.

Over a thousand miles away to the west, Sean Duhon and David Fray did their best to cope with the 105+ degree heat and wind in Cheyenne Wells, CO.  Fray continued to show improvements over his first weekend in the Sudden Impact truck, but unfortunately the rookie driver would end up facing Duhon in the first round of racing.  Duhon would advance past his team mate to meet former championship driver Dan Runte in Bigfoot in the semi-finals.  Duhon showed no mercy to the St. Louis-based Ford, taking out Runte and advancing into the finals where he would meet New Mexico's very own Pitbull.  The Pitbull machine put up a valiant effort, but would prove to be no match for Duhon's well-tuned machine.  The icing on the cake for the weekend would be a smoldering (pun intended) freestyle by Duhon that would earn him a well-deserved and hard-earned freestyle victory.

This coming weekend, the entire Sudden Impact Racing team will converge on A-1 Raceway in Lacombe, LA for the Magnum Monster Mania event.  It is a rare occurance to find all four SIR monsters hitting the track together, so be sure to check out the event if you are anywhere near it.  More info can be found at www.a1raceway.net.  Be sure to check SuddenImpact.com frequently as the weekend progresses to find out how your favorite SIR drivers do on the tricky course at A-1!
