The future of snocross was rockin’ around the Mile

Minneapolis, Minn., Dec. 20, 2009  – Racers concentrated on choosing lines on the track that became tougher to navigate as the day grew longer. It was a proud afternoon when the lights came on and the future of snocross took the field for their finals at the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series at the Milwaukee Mile National on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009.

At the end of the Stud Boy Sport Women’s Super Stock final, first place winner Stephanie Schmidt of Crandon, Wisc., #189 Polaris, summed it up for every rider — from the youngest 120 classes to the top pros — when she said, “These races would be nothing without the fans.” Her advice to all other young racers, “Believe that you can do it.” At that, the crowd went wild.

The kids racing in the younger classes were proud to be racing at the historic Milwaukee Mile National on the same track where the world’s best snocross drivers ripped it up on some of the world’s fastest sleds. The kids were having a blast and showing their moves while they were rockin’ around the Mile.

Making it to the podium in any position is a proud moment for every driver and their families. Watching their son or daughter accept a trophy may even bring tears to a parent’s eyes — and some riders as well. Trent Wittwer of Bemidji, Minn., #115 Ski-Doo, took third in the Rengel Printing Transition 8-12 class. On the podium he said, “I feel great just being here. But I wouldn’t be here without my dad.”

These kids are all definitely on the good list with only a week before Christmas.
