ZIMMER OWNS RED BLUFF FOR TEAM AMSOIL/SIR
Red Bluff, California-From coast to coast, the name Jon Zimmer is popping up more often in discussions about monster trucks, and this past weekend in Red Bluff, Zimmer showed everyone why. In three shows, Zimmer was able to win two freestyles and make the finals in racing twice, taking one victory there as well.
“I just felt great all weekend in racing,” he said. “If I hadn’t messed up in racing a bit on Saturday, I think I could have had a good chance to win there also.”
Highlights of Zimmer’s freestyles included blowing a tire halfway through his first run of the weekend, then breaking a wheel clean off the truck on Sunday!
“I was hitting one of the van stacks the opposite way of what everyone else was—you have to mix it up and make the fans happy—and I went for it hard. Our equipment is tough and can take a lot, but that spindle had finally had enough,” said Zimmer.
Also impressive was newcomer Chris “Panda” Ryan, who was pegged as the fastest qualifier on Friday night and looked good all weekend in racing and freestyle.
“I’m still learning, but Jon’s a great teacher, and having AMSOIL behind us along with Brandon Lagarde is what helps my confidence,” said Ryan.
The fans were screaming for AMSOIL Shock Therapy and AMSOIL Excaliber all weekend, and that is what Zimmer and Ryan had in mind when they arrived Wednesday.
“It was a long, tough weekend, but it was all worth it in the end. Everyone was happy in the stands, and that’s what matters.”
The team is headed to Longview, Texas next.
