AMSOIL Riders Pull Off Pair
of Thirds
July
26, 2004 ~ Kevin Windham showed top form in
the 250 class and Josh Grant continued to
impress in 125cc competition as the outdoor
national motocross roared into round seven.
After a one-year hiatus due to heavy rain
and flooded grounds, the AMA/Chevrolet U.S.
Motocross National Championships sponsored
by AMSOIL returned to Kenworthy's Motocross
Park in Troy, Ohio last weekend.
Windham
of AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda has been nicknamed
"Windstorm" by some people because
of his fast laps, dirt-churning style and
relentless pursuit of perfection. Windham
pulled off a pair of third place moto finishes
to solidify his third place in the overall
standings.
Josh
Grant may be too new to the pro ranks to have
a nickname, but they might start with "Wonder
Kid." Having just turned pro prior to
the outdoor motocross season, Grant is showing
he's a fast learner and awesome talent. Grant
posted an impressive second and a strong fourth
in his motos to earn third place for the day.
He's fifth in the overall points as a rookie,
which is remarkable, but at this pace it's
conceivable he could climb into the top three
by season's end.
Team
AMSOIL also finished with two more riders
in the top ten for round seven of 125. Greg
Schnell looked completely back to full form
following injury with his ninth place finish
thanks to motos of 11th and ninth. Chris Gosselaar
continues to battle a shoulder problem, but
didn't let it bother him for 10th place overall.
He went 12th and 10th in his motos.
