LaRocco and Windham Combine for Top Honors

AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda Named "2004 Team of the Year"

Superior, WI ~ Taking two of the top three final positions of the 2004 AMA/THQ Supercross demonstrated the competitiveness and brilliance of the AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda team. In the 250cc class Kevin Windham finished second and Mike LaRocco third. For the team's dedication, success and perseverance it was awarded "Team of the Year."

Windham showed a two-year layoff from racing didn't diminish his skills. He posted 13 podiums including five stellar wins on his way to finishing second overall. LaRocco's legendary status grew even more as he won the hometown Indianapolis event, finished on the podium 10 times and only once finished out of the top five in route to ending the season third overall.

The 125cc team changed faces throughout the year, but solid finishes by Travis Preston, Chris Gosselaar, Ryan Mills, Billy Laninovich, Justin Brayton and Greg Schnell put the team on the podium and among the top finishers each round.

Windham, LaRocco and the team led by Team Owner Rick Zielfelder and Manager J.C. Waterhouse accepted the 2004 AMA/THQ Supercross Team of the Year award presented by Clear Channel Entertainment at the season banquet in Las Vegas. "I was surprised at first to be named the 2004 Supercross Team of the Year," said Zielfelder. "But reflecting on this though, this team has always been focused on being as competitive as possible. Each year the program has always implemented changes and improvements to capitalize upon what we achieved the year before. AMSOIL has always been there to help this race program take the necessary steps to improve year after year."
