Team AMSOIL Fires Warning Salvo

AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda Promises Best To Come

Anaheim, CA ~ Optimism abounds with the AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda team following 2004 AMA/THQ Supercross round one at Edison International Field. 250 riders Kevin Windham and Mike LaRocco served notice they will be contenders this season. The 125 pair of Travis Preston and Chris Gosselaar showed why they'll be factors each time out.

Windham checked out and handily won his 250cc heat. LaRocco took a nasty fall in the first heat, but easily transferred to the main event after winning a 250cc semi. In the final, LaRocco gained fan attention by starting in the middle of the field and methodically moving his way into contention. He finished fourth. Windham, who missed all of last year's supercross season with a leg injury, took a poor start and turned it into a ninth place finish.

Gosselaar and Preston had no trouble transferring to the 125cc final from their the first heat. In the final, both got caught up in a chain reaction crash set off by Preston shortly after the start. Preston got the better of the deal to finish eighth in the final. Gosselaar passed the checkered flag in 10th place.
