"The Rock" Keeps Rolling

Mike LaRocco Wins in Front of Hometown Fans

Indianapolis, IN ~ The RCA Dome erupted with fan's frenzy as fellow Hoosier Mike LaRocco won the AMA/THQ Supercross 250cc main. His first this season. LaRocco, from the South Bend area, has always considered this his home event. LaRocco, 33, didn't let the 50,000 faithful down.

The crowd stood in unison, giving a non-stop deafening cheer as the AMSOIL/ Chaparral/Honda/Factory Connection rider led the round 12 final from starting gate to checkered flag. LaRocco called the win, "… up there with the greatest moments…" of his 17 year professional career.

LaRocco has finished on the podium seven times his season. This was his first victory since Anaheim 2 in 2002. "The Rock" moves into 14th place on the all-time supercross wins list. Perhaps more importantly the victory gives LaRocco a ten-point cushion between him in third place overall and the next rider with four events left.

AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda/Factory Connection teammate Kevin Windham finished second and called the night, "… one of those story book wins for the sport." Windham is second in overall 250 points this season with three wins and 10 podium finishes.
