Windham Takes
Bite of Minne-apple
February 21 ~ Kevin Windham
won his third AMA/THQ Supercross with a stunning
and dominating performance in the Minneapolis
Metrodome Saturday night. The AMSOIL/Chaparral/Honda/Factory
Connection rider is now within one race's
points of taking over the series lead. He
trails by 23 points.
Mike LaRocco finished sixth
in the Metrodome after getting tangled up
with another rider and falling on the first
lap of the 250 main. After getting back on
his bike in dead last, LaRocco was able to
pass nearly the entire field. LaRocco looked
like he was having the time of his life and
said afterward if the track had more length
and the race were longer he may have caught
all the way up. LaRocco is alone in fourth
place overall.
Travis Preston debuted in
the 250 class and made a strong showing. Preston
finished fourth. He too felt if the course
were a little longer he could have moved into
third place.
The 125 main featured Ryan
Mills. Mills didn't get a very good start,
but was able to work some magic. He made it
all the way to sixth place. Mills is seventh
overall in 125 East regional points after
two events.
Team AMSOIL will be in Atlanta
for round nine February 27-28.
