Team AMSOIL Ready For 2004 Winter X Games
Eckstrom and Tate Dominate
Warm Up Event

Speed Sports drivers Justin Tate and DJ Eckstrom
are on their way to Aspen, CO for ESPN Winter
X Games VIII. The "Dynamic Duo"
will again go for gold in hillcross and snocross.
The five-day extreme sports spectacular begins
Friday, January 23 on Buttermilk Mountain.
AMSOIL has a history of success
on this big stage. Eckstrom, from Duluth,
MN, earned a silver medal last year to go
with a bronze from 2001. In 1999 at X Games
III Team AMSOIL won a gold medal with Chris
Vincent. Much of the action will be broadcast
live in primetime on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC Sports
and is available on-line at www.expn.com.
Tate and Eckstrom won't represent
AMSOIL alone. Five other AMSOIL-supported
riders will be there. TJ Gulla is the reigning
hillcross gold medalist. He'll also compete
in snocross. Ben Deaton and Luke Stephens,
who are sponsored by AMSOIL Dealers, are set
to go. Deaton qualified for hillcross and
Stephens for snocross. Phil Johnson, of Two
Harbors, MN, will be in hillcross. Matt Judnick,
of Duluth, will contend in both events.
Team AMSOIL dominated a warm-up
event at the World Snowmobile Championships
in Eagle River, WI last weekend. Eckstrom
earned three first places and a second place.
Tate had one win and four runner-ups. "We
think this momentum can carry us a long way
at Winter X," said Team Owner Steve Scheuring.
At the midpoint of the World
Snowmobile Association Eckstrom is second
overall in Pro Open and sixth in Pro Stock.
Tate is fifth in Pro Open and 11th in the
tightly contested Pro Stock.
