AMSOIL
INC. Earns Governors Safety Award
April 25, 2001, Superior WI --
The Minnesota Safety Council has awarded a Governors
Safety Award to AMSOIL INC for excellence in
workplace safety and health.
AMSOIL INC is one of 202 employers who will
be recognized at the Governors Safety Awards
luncheon at the Minneapolis Convention Center
on May 4.
Workplace injuries and illnesses are a substantial
public health issue in Minnesota, said Carol
Bufton, president of the Minnesota Safety Council.
Through its commitment to keeping workers safe,
AMSOIL INC is making a significant contribution
to the quality of life in Superior, WI.
Employee safety has always been a top priority
for me since the day I started AMSOIL, said
AMSOIL founder and CEO Al Amatuzio. We dont
just talk about safety. Were committed to it.
A lot of businesses may give lip service to
safety, but we take the matter very seriously
because we value our people.
Since 1934, the annual Governors Safety Awards
have spotlighted Minnesota employers with above
average safety records. Participants submit
injury information which is compared with state
and national data, as well as the entrants past
performance. AMSOIL INC. received an Outstanding
Achievement Award for its continuous improvement
and outstanding record.
While safety is the responsibility of every
employee, special thanks for the companys ongoing
safety record goes to Kerry Olsen, Safety &
Regulations Manager, and Jerry Broderson, Human
Resources Manager. Stated Broderson, AMSOIL
has gone more than a half million hours without
a lost time accident.
The Governors Safety Awards luncheon is part
of the 67th Minnesota Safety & Health Conference,
coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council.
The conference is the oldest and largest gathering
of workplace safety and health professionals
in the region. The Minnesota Safety Council,
founded in 1928, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit
organization dedicated to improving the quality
of life in Minnesota by preventing unintentional
injuries (accidents).
More than 450 Minnesota workers are injured
or become ill from job-related causes each day,
with annual workers compensation cost of $1
billion.
