Terry Rinker
Wins 2002 Great Northern River Roar
Powerboat Team Puts AMSOIL On Top Of Standings
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
~ Terry Rinker broke through with a convincing
first win of the PROP Tour season at the Great
Northern River Roar. Rinker nearly lapped
the field in his Blackhawk/Rinker Boats/AMSOIL
Formula One powerboat. With the victory Rinker
moves to the top of the overall Formula One
standings in the AMSOIL-sponsored PROP Tour.
Rinker has been Mr. Consistency on the PROP
Tour in 2002. He has put the familiar canary
yellow Team AMSOIL boat near the front all
year. Rinker posted fourth and third place
finishes in the first two events of the season
and was set to break through in Saskatoon.
The narrow course and choppy water made racing
difficult. Rinker led the Sunday, July 21
feature race from flag to flag.
Rinker has twice been inducted into the Hall
of Champions. He's credited with at least
seven speed records. His career includes 17
national titles and nine high points championships.
Last season, Rinker missed winning his first
Formula One PROP Tour Championship by one
point. It was the closest championship in
PROP Tour history. Rinker has finished in
the top five of the PROP Tour series every
year to date.
AMSOIL has a tradition of high performance
from the Indianapolis 500 to grassroots dirt
track racing. The Team AMSOIL motocross, snocross,
and the American Dream monster truck count
on AMSOIL synthetics. AMSOIL also proudly
sponsors the Dan Vanden Heuval "Flying Dutchman" off-road
team and ASCS National Sprint Car Champion Zach Chappell.
