AMSOIL Riders Among Worlds Best
Duluth Area Rider is Third in WSA
Team Qualifies for
Second X-Games Event
Dennis "DJ" Eckstrom
is once again among the elite in the sport of
snocross. Eckstrom finishes the grueling 11 event
2000-2001 World Snowmobile Association season
third in overall points for Pro Open competitors.
That's remarkable for a racer whose season was
in doubt following a broken femur last summer.
Eckstrom also finished fourth in the Pro Stock
class.
Eckstrom's fluid style and full-speed-ahead attitude
put the AMSOIL/Scheuring Speed Sports team on
podiums many times this season. The year was highlighted
by a stunning third place at the ESPN Winter X-Games.
He will be back at the Games next year.
Eckstrom has also qualified for the 2002 X-Games
in the hillcross event. Its also expected that
teammate Justin JT Tate will also compete in this
event next year. Hillcross combines the jumps
of snocross with the vertical course of Hillclimbing.
Tate will attempt to qualify for the X-Games snocross
at the Black Magic Duluth National Snocross next
November.
Tate made his presence known this year finishing
fourth overall in Pro Stock and ninth in Pro Open.
Bustin' Justin narrowly missed landing on the
podium this season, but his hard charging efforts
made other riders take notice every time he was
on the track.
