By-Pass Oil Filter Installations

1999 Ford Explorer EXT 4.0 4x4
AMSOIL BK-13 Dual Remote By-Pass Filter System
Submitted by AMSOIL Dealer Brian Wise

This install took Dealer Brian Wise 1.5 hours to complete. First all components (BE90, SDF15, 8.5 quarts of HDD oil, and TS122) were laid out. Underneath the passenger side seat was the most practical spot for installation and easy servicing. There were 2 pre-drilled holes in the frame and I only had to drill two 1/4" holes with an angle drill (15 minutes).

After the bracket was mounted the valve body was installed (10 minutes). Oil filter was then removed using the white adapter. The oil filter adapter was then installed (10 minutes). Using the supplied hose, I cut two lengths and threaded the two ends with hose fittings (15 minutes). You have to install the return hose first on the oil filter adapter due to limited wrench clearance, then install the out (red) side hose (15 minutes). Then cut the hose to length at the filter mount assembly, thread on the hose fittings and install hoses (10 minutes). Install the two filters (I would recommend filling both filters with oil to prime the system faster). Fill the oil pan and start, check for leaks (15 minutes). The oil capacity was increased from 5 to 8.5 quarts of oil. It was very easy to follow instructions and installation was easy.
