Install the main body on the inside rail of the driverside frame. It is the spot were it goes from a full tube design to a channel design. It is simple to get the screws in without the brackets just by drilling. This mounts the filters sideways and actually enables the use of larger filters. In the lower part of Photo 1 is the driver side torsion bar. The filters are mounted high enough to keep debris from hitting them. This location under the truck also has other advantages; it keeps the heat out of the motor compartment, the lines to it are as short as possible, and it's easy to change the filters without spillage into the motor compartment. Just place a pan underneath.
A 3" x 3/8" nipple and a 4" x 3/8" nipple along with 1 elbow and 1 tee with a plug are used to bring the lines down from the adapter plate and make the sharp bend necessary to get under the drive shaft but not too far down to be under the front differential crossmembers Photo 7. The plug in the tee is used for oil sampling. The lines run neatly under the drive shaft and then upward to the frame away from the exhaust. Note plenty of slack for engine movement.
The hoses are neatly screwed to the frame with rubber reinforced steel bands to be sure it's away from the exhaust Photo 3. As shown, a little planning reduces bends in the lines. Note the direction that the bypass filter mount was mounted to the frame to eliminate bends in the fittings (Photo 1 and Photo 2).
The finalized product utilized 60% of the hose supplied with the kit. The lines are secure and protected by crossmembers and the filters are protected by the frame and the driver side torsion bar. Nearly impossible, within reason, to hit.
