Rinker Wins Second Straight
Defending Champ Beats Field in Cincinnati

Cincinnati, Ohio ~ In Terry Rinker’s 2005 championship season, the Floridian took hold of the ChampBoat Series by winning the first four races of the year.  That winning strategy has carried over to the 2006 season as Rinker followed his opening round win in Bay City, Mich. with a victory at the Grand Prix of Cincinnati last weekend.

The Team AMSOIL driver of the yellow #10 boat was the fastest qualifier on the Ohio River course on Saturday.  In Sunday’s final, Rinker battled for second place behind pole sitter Shaun Torrente.  But a restart and a mechanical problem to Torrente allowed Rinker to restart the race out front, leading to his second win of the season.

“Shaun has been fast all season and will be a factor the rest of the year,” said Rinker.  “But, in order to finish first, you must first finish”

Rinker’s brother, Randy, also competed in the Champ class at last weekend’s race.  The rookie driver pushed himself to his best race of the season, crossing the finish line in fifth.

The ChampBoat Series returns to action this weekend as the circuit makes its turns on the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis as the headlining show for the annual Minneapolis Aquatennial.  Time trials and heat races will be on Saturday with the finals scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Super Team Heats Up For California Sun
Team AMSOIL drivers looking for West Coast success

Chula Vista, Calif. ~ The Championship Off-Road Series (CORR) returns to action this weekend with two full days of racing on the West Coast.  The AMSOIL Super Team will be looking to build off a solid weekend of racing two weeks ago in Bark River, Mich.  That weekend featured the first win of 2006 by a Super Team member as Scott Douglas picked up the checkered flag in the Pro-2 class.  Douglas also took home a third place finish in Pro-4.  Racing begins on Saturday at noon.

Shryock Grabs Another Win
Team AMSOIL driver also plays comeback kid

Arcadia, Wis. ~ Racing fan Mike Hacket and a group of friends recently traveled 310 miles round trip to watch Team AMSOIL modified driver Kelly Shryock continue his dominance over the USMTS field.

"We've heard so much about the USMTS Series and Kelly Shryock that we had to come down to see it for ourselves," said Hackett. "What this guy (Shryock) is doing against this level of competition is unbelievable. Someday I'll be able to tell my kids that I saw him race."

The seven-time defending USMTS champion has been red hot lately.  The second-generation pilot from Fertile, Iowa completed a three-race sweep last weekend with wins at the Jackson (Minn.) Speedway, The Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb. and the Fox Valley Speedway in Arcadia.  The three wins gave Shryock 18 checkered flags in 32 starts this season.

Up next for the USMTS, in which AMSOIL is also the Official Oil, will be the 5th Annual Gopher Summer Challenge at the Murray County Speedway in Slayton, Minn.

Smith Looking for “Summer” Groove
Late Model racer looks for wins in UMP Summernationals

Princeton, Ill. ~ Following a stellar fourth place finish last week in the UMP Summernationals show at the 34 (Iowa) Raceway, the Brady Smith Racing team is gearing up for a big tripleheader racing weekend.  The Solon Springs, Wis. based dirt late model team will bring their AMSOIL backed Monte Carlo to Knoxville, Iowa, Wheatland, Mo, and Granite City, Ill. this weekend.  The NARA Late Model Dirt Series will sanction all three events.  In addition, the cameras of the SPEED Channel will be on hand at all three venues to tape the wheel-to-wheel dirt racing action for broadcast at a later date.

Heading into the trio of events this weekend, Smith has posted one win, six top five finishes, and thirteen top ten efforts during his 2006 campaign.

Schwenkbeck Continues Strong Rookie Run
BASS “Master” makes another payday on ESPN stage

Syracuse, N.Y. ~ Pro Bass angler Darrin Schwenkbeck continues to show off his ability to find fish in the Bassmasters Elite Tour.  The Silver Spring, Md. native took part in the ESPN owned series last weekend on Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Schwenkbeck, who is sponsored by AMSOIL for the first time this season, found himself in the money for the 12th time this year after landing a three day total of 42 lbs and 11oz of fish, which pushed him into 32nd place out more than 150 anglers.

Schwenkbeck will be back on the water in the Bassmasters Elite tournament August 10-13 on the Potomac River in Charles County, Md.
