“Rinker One Win Away From Perfection”
Team AMSOIL looking for season sweep at finale
 Savannah, Ga. ~ Team AMSOIL powerboat driver Terry Rinker is closing in on an historical season in the 2006 ChampBoat Series this weekend. Rinker, who recently tied the world record for consecutive wins in a Formula 1 powerboat at six, is looking for his second consecutive series championship this weekend in Savannah, Ga.
“The crew has worked exceptionally hard all year long,” said Rinker. “We set up this AMSOIL/Rinker Boat to perfection this season and we really want to end the season with a perfect record and seven wins.”
Rinker, who won the ChampBoat Series title in 2003 and 2005, will need to run one qualifying heat on Saturday to secure his second straight championship. The Tampa, Fla. native has won all six races on the ChampBoat Schedule in 2006. The ChampBoat Grand Prix Series of Savannah will run practice and a qualifying heat on Saturday, November 4. Sunday’s action will include a second qualifying heat and the final.
Shryock Snares Fall Classic,
Modified driver takes control of “The Hunt”
Bolivar, Mo. ~ Events on Sunday afternoon at Bolivar Speedway USA could not have unfolded any better for Kelly Shryock. Trailing Zack VanderBeek by two points in ‘The Hunt’ for the USMTS National Championship entering Sunday's O’Reilly Auto Parts Fall Classic finale, Shryock needed a good finish coupled with some good luck to regain control of his own destiny.
The good luck came in the form of a flat tire by VanderBeek, forcing him to start in the back for the main event. Shryock was one of only five cars in the main not to have a tire problem, and he was able to go wire-to-wire to capture the checkered flag. The win was the 30th of the season for Shryock and pushed him past VanderBeek by 22 points with just one weekend of racing left on the USMTS schedule. Shryock is also on top of the season long AMSOIL Lap Leader standings.
After 57 races at 33 tracks in nine states, the USMTS road warriors will wrap their nine-month campaign with the 5th Annual Pepsi/Mountain Dew Mid-America Nationals at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4-5.

Alex Amen Racing driver Alex Amen out of Fort Morgan, Colo., finished the 2006 modified lites season in fourth place overall with the Mod Lites of Colorado. It is his first year racing "large" cars. Amen’s only other racing experience was two seasons racing quarter midgets. He also won the Most Improved/Sportsman award.
The Mod Lites of Colorado raced at the I -76 Speedway in Fort Morgan and at the Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne, Wyo. At Big Country Speedway, the 16-year-old Amen earned one main event win; two second-place finishes; three third-place finishes; two fourth-place finishes. Amen also posted an unprecedented eight Fast Time Qualifying wins in 10 events. At I - 76 Speedway, Amen finished in the top 10 position eight times and once in the top five. Medlin Motor Sports out of Easley, S.C., reports final season results for races at Cherokee Speedway in October. In mid-September street stock driver Brad Jennings had trouble with his car in the heat race and ended in fifth place. In the main event, Jennings faced several caution flags throughout the race, maintaining his position in the number three spot throughout the race before finishing in fifth.
In the super stock division, Rob Medlin held on in the heat race for a third place finish. In the main event, Medlin was running in third place when he realized he had a tire going down, but he continued to run and jockeyed to keep his car running in third. Just before the finish line, Medlin was overtaken by another driver to end the race in fourth place.
The final race of the season for Medlin Motor Sports was at Cherokee Speedway on Sept. 30. In the street stock division heat race, Jennings narrowly missed a crash with another car and finished in fourth. In the main, Jennings was passing his way to the front when he lost several positions on a restart. He ended up in the sixth at the end of the race. He ended his season 18 points out of first place.
Although Medlin placed sixth in the super stock final points race, he was able to clinch first place in points for the season. Dealer Paul Johnson sponsors Medlin Motor Sports Racing.
