Team AMSOIL2009 TORC Series Wraps Up in Las Vegas

Kincaid Claims Pro Light Championship

With season championships on the line, the final two rounds of the 2009 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL were held October 23-24 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nev.

In the Pro Light class, Marty Hart earned the win on Friday night, while Chris Brandt took second and Casey Currie finished third.  On Saturday, Currie took the win, followed by AMSOIL Super Team racer Chad Hord in second and Brandt in third.  Although AMSOIL-sponsored racer Jeff Kincaid did not reach the podium in either race, his season points total was enough to claim the championship.  Hart finished the season in second, while Hord finished third.

Team AMSOILThe AMSOIL Pro 2WD class showcased two intense battles between points leader Rob MacCachren and AMSOIL-sponsored racer Ricky Johnson for the championship.  MacCachren took the win on Friday with Johnson finishing second, while Johnson took the win on Saturday with MacCachren finishing second.  AMSOIL-sponsored racer Jeremy McGrath finished third on Friday, while AMSOIL-sponsored racer Dan Vanden Heuvel finished third on Saturday.  Despite leading the entire race and taking the win on Saturday, Johnson missed the championship by only four points and earned second for the season.  Todd LeDuc took third in the final points standings.

Kyle and Curt LeDuc finished first and second respectively in Friday night's Kumho Tires Pro 4x4 racing action, with AMSOIL Super Team racer Scott Douglas taking the third place podium.  Saturday's Pro 4x4 race provided a dramatic conclusion to the 2009 TORC season, with only four trucks finishing in a race that saw a series of crashes take out the majority of the field.  AMSOIL-sponsored racers Mike Jenkins and Steve Barlow battled fender-to-fender on the last lap before Jenkins edged out Barlow at the finish line for his first Pro 4x4 win.  Curt LeDuc took third.  Rick Huseman earned the season championship, with Kyle LeDuc finishing second and Douglas taking third.

The final rounds of the 2009 TORC season from Las Vegas will be televised on ABC on Sunday, November 8 at 1:30 p.m. EST.

Smith Takes Second at Lawrenceburg Speedway

Team AMSOIL late model racer Brady Smith competed at the 29th Annual Dirt Track World Championship on the weekend of October 17-18 at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind.  After timing in third quickest in his group during qualifying and taking second in his heat race, Smith rolled off from the outside of the fifth row in the 100-lap main event and stuck with the top 10 before making his move and working his way to second.  With only 10 laps remaining, Smith was wheel-to-wheel with race leader Jimmy Mars, but was unable to make the pass.  Smith held on for a strong second place finish.

"While we are disappointed not to get the win, there is no disgrace in finishing second to Jimmy Mars," said Smith.  "He has been on a roll this year and we had a good, clean race up front for the win.  We will take the second place run and get our equipment ready for the final three races of the World of Outlaws schedule."

Smith will compete at the 3rd Annual World of Outlaws World Finals at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. November 5-7.
