| AMSOIL Becomes Presenting Sponsor of F1 ChampBoat Series |
 |
AMSOIL has stepped up its partnership with the F1 ChampBoat Series by becoming the presenting sponsor for the 2009 race season. The series will be known as the “F1 ChampBoat Series presented by AMSOIL.” AMSOIL has been the “Official Oil” of the ChampBoat Series since 2005, as well as the title sponsor of four-time series champion Terry Rinker since 2002.
“We are so proud to have such a quality company as AMSOIL step up with our series for 2009,” said series director Michael Schriefer. “They have been fantastic to work with over the years and their products really are second-to-none. Our series is in a great place to really excel as it’s the very best value in all of motorsports, so we are excited this is a fresh start to a powerful marketing future for F1 ChampBoat.”
“The F1 ChampBoat Series presented by AMSOIL is a high-tech sport that really tests the limits of our products,” said AMSOIL Race Program Manager Jeremy Meyer. “The series is really taking off, and it hosts events in huge downtown festivals that are either free or inexpensive, so we love that the sport is easily accessible to all. We are also very proud that F1 ChampBoat teams have enjoyed the performance advantages of AMSOIL products, the same products which have propelled Terry Rinker to four championships in the past six seasons.”
F1 ChampBoat Series races will be televised on Versus with web broadcasting also available at www.champboat.com. |

Brad Lovell Finishes Second in Moab |
After dealing with some phantom electrical issues at the Tucson We-Rock event, the AMSOIL/Torchmate rock racing crew of Brad and Roger Lovell competed in Moab, Utah the weekend of April 11. Although the electrical problems in Brad’s truck cropped up again, the team successfully located the bug hiding in the truck's computer system.
Finally able to concentrate on the competition, Brad ran consistent times and was looking to conquer the bone-jarring track. He entered the finals in second place, 30 seconds behind leader Rick Deremo. After making up 17 seconds in the first run, Lovell got hung up on some rocks and finished the competition in second place. Roger just missed making the finals and finished the day in eighth. |
AMSOIL-Sponsored Racer Sets PWC Speed Record
AMSOIL-sponsored personal watercraft racer Julio Rivera made history last weekend at the RIVA Racing HydroDrag Spring Nationals in Fellsmere, Fla., recording the first-documented PWC run topping 100 mph. After earning the win in the Speed Alley Hydro Unlimited event with speeds of 99.4 and 99.7 mph, Rivera’s historic feat was accomplished as he made one final exhibition run on his turbo-powered 4-TEC conversion PWC, posting a top speed of 100.5 mph.
“Riding this machine and setting that speed is absolutely exhilarating,” said Rivera. “The competition is really tough, and these races get better every year. The speed and the adrenaline rush keep me coming back for more.”
Rivera is sponsored by AMSOIL Direct Jobber Juan Gonzalez. |

TORC Drivers Take Advantage of Perris Test Session
The Professional Drivers Group (PDG) and AMSOIL held a free test session April 19-20 at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., where over 40 PRO and Sportsman off-road drivers, including AMSOIL Super Team drivers Scott Douglas and Mike Oberg, took advantage of the session to prepare for the upcoming Traxxas TORC Series Presented by AMSOIL. All divisions of racing, including PRO-4WD, PRO-2WD, Pro-Light, Super Buggy, Single Buggy, UTVs and Trophy Karts, were well-represented. Each session went smoothly as teams experimented with different suspensions and tire grooving setups on the challenging 0.7 mile layout at Perris Auto Speedway.
