Brady Smith recently spent two busy and successful weeks in Georgia and Florida, competing at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga.; the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. and the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. from January 29 - February 14. Smith entered all 15 Dirt Late Model events during the trip and successfully transferred into the main event 12 times. Smith recorded a pair of top five finishes and five top 10 performances, with his best race coming in the “Speedweeks 2009” finale at Volusia on February 14, where he led the first 35 laps of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main before settling for a strong runner-up finish.
“It was a pretty decent Speedweeks for us,” said Smith. “We had a fast car every night, but we were just missing a little something that kept us out of victory lane. I feel good coming out of Florida though because I have never run well historically at Volusia, and this year we led two different races there. Hopefully, we learned some things on these cars that will translate well for the rest of the season.”
Smith and his #2 Dirt Late Model team will next compete March 13-14 at the Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala.
