Crapo Takes Pro Super Stock Win in Farmington
Shaun CrapoRound five of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series was held February 13-15 in front of 30,000 fans at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack in Farmington, N.Y. After dominating and winning his Pro Super Stock heat race, Team AMSOIL racer Shaun Crapo got off to a great start in the final, grabbing second right behind top qualifier and local favorite T.J. Gulla. Gulla and Crapo proceeded to edge away from the pack, while Brett Bender, Garth Kaufman and Levi LaVallee engaged in an intense battle for third behind them. With less than three laps remaining, Gulla was slowed by lapped traffic and Crapo rushed in to take over the lead, winning the race and earning his first podium finish of the season.

Crapo finished ninth in the Pro Open class. After injuring his knee and hip the previous weekend in Brainerd, Team AMSOIL racer D.J. Eckstrom took starts in both the Pro Super Stock and Pro Open classes in order to earn valuable class points. Team AMSOIL/Judnick Motorsports racer Matt Judnick finished 10th in the Pro Open class and 13th in the Pro Super Stock class.

Butler Wins 2009 AMSOIL Kawartha Cup
The second round of the CSRA AMSOIL Kawartha Cup was held the weekend of February 14-15 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. In the Pro Stock class, Lee Butler jumped off to the quick lead, followed by David Joanis in second and Michael VanDolder and Joey Sagan side-by-side in the third position. Sagan quickly made the pass on VanDolder for third and held on for the remainder of the race, earning a third place podium finish, with Butler taking the win and Joanis earning the second place podium finish. The Pro Open class shook out the same way, with Butler taking the win followed by Joanis and Sagan. Butler’s win, combined with his fourth place finish at the first round in Lindsay, gave him the points needed to narrowly edge out VanDolder for the 2009 AMSOIL Kawartha Cup.

Brady SmithBrady Smith Concludes Busy and Successful “Speedweeks 2009”
Brady Smith recently spent two busy and successful weeks in Georgia and Florida, competing at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga.; the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. and the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. from January 29 - February 14. Smith entered all 15 Dirt Late Model events during the trip and successfully transferred into the main event 12 times. Smith recorded a pair of top five finishes and five top 10 performances, with his best race coming in the “Speedweeks 2009” finale at Volusia on February 14, where he led the first 35 laps of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main before settling for a strong runner-up finish.

“It was a pretty decent Speedweeks for us,” said Smith. “We had a fast car every night, but we were just missing a little something that kept us out of victory lane. I feel good coming out of Florida though because I have never run well historically at Volusia, and this year we led two different races there. Hopefully, we learned some things on these cars that will translate well for the rest of the season.”

Smith and his #2 Dirt Late Model team will next compete March 13-14 at the Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala.
