“AMSOIL Duo Gunning For Titles”
Two dirt track drivers lead national points race
Superior, Wis. ~ Three dirt track race car drivers are leading the charge in the Dirt Track Racing Association’s (DTRA) point’s standings in 2006, and all of them are being powered by AMSOIL Synthetic Lubricants.
New Richmond, Wis. Super Late Model driver Pat Doar, a past winner of the AMSOIL Late Model Series, is currently leading the DTRA national series by 11 points. Doar, who recently wrapped up his third straight track championship at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., has 1,292 points have 31 races. He is currently 29 points ahead of second place with just five races remaining on the DTRA “Chase” schedule.
Hermantown, Minn. resident Darrell Nelson is leading the way in his AMSOIL backed Modified. Nelson has just a four-point lead over the second place driver. Nelson has been one of the top area drivers this season. He recently won the modified feature at Proctor Speedway (Minn.), his sixth feature win of the season, and claimed the track championship in the process. Nelson is also eighth in the Super Late Model standings. Another AMSOIL sponsored racer, Craig Thatcher currently sits in eighth place with only three races left on the schedule.
The DTRA will feature the Super Late Models this weekend at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. Both classes will be featured as part of the Northern Nationals at the Superior Speedway in Superior, Wis. on September 9 and at “The 100” finale at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. September 14-15.
