“Inaugural Champ Uses AMSOIL”
Late Model driver Pat Doar wins first DTRA Championship
New Richmond, Wis. ~ With the Cedar Lake Speedway championship already wrapped up, Team AMSOIL late model driver Pat Doar focused his sights on winning the inaugural Dirt Track Racing Association championship.
Doar, who won the 2005 AMSOIL Late Model Series, took home the $15,000 series paycheck after winning “The 100” at Cedar Lake Speedway last weekend. Doar edged out fellow driver Steve Laursen by 13 points for the circuit’s first championship.
Another AMSOIL driver made a chase for the title in the DTRA Modifieds class. Entering The 100 weekend, Darrell Nelson held a five-point lead for the championship. However, technical problems forced him out of the final early, but still with enough points to stay in second place in the points race. Nelson also finished eighth in the late model class.
Other AMSOIL drivers who finished strong in the DTRA standings include Team AMSOIL driver Craig Thatcher, who finished eighth in the modified class. Modified driver Jody Bellefuille just missed the top ten with his 11th place finish.
