AMSOIL Performance Test Archive

This archive contains a historical record of AMSOIL performance tests and technical studies that are now obsolete and may not be representative of oils currently on the marketplace. The test results posted in this section reflect properties of oils available for purchase at the time of testing. The test results do not reflect properties of those oils reformulated subsequent to testing. Therefore, these publications are not available for download or distribution.

An evaluation of AMSOIL Signature Series 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil in standard and double-length Sequence IIIG Engine Tests.
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil delivered outstanding engine protection following more than 100,000 miles of severe service in a Las Vegas taxi, while Signature Series Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid virtually eliminated harmful sludge and wear in another's taxi's transmission following more than 180,000 miles.
In a dynamometer test designed to simulate conditions even more extreme than the demanding stop-and-go driving conditions of a motorcycle rally or parade route, AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil demonstrated outstanding performance in temperatures more than 500°F.
Compares the performance in laboratory tests and cost-effectiveness of AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil to several passenger-car/light-truck synthetic motor oils widely considered by marketers and consumers to be the best available.
The industry-standard SAE J1376 Fuel Economy Measurement Test (Engineering Type) for Buses and Trucks reveals AMSOIL synthetic lubricants can increase fuel economy in class 8 diesel trucks used in stop-and-go city driving conditions and, in this case, did by 3.15 percent.
AMSOIL subjected INTERCEPTOR® Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil to 50 hours of severe-duty engine testing and two industry-standard ASTM tests to demonstrate that INTERCEPTOR exceeds the performance requirements of high-performance DFI snowmobile engines in severe operating conditions.
AMSOIL HP Marine Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil prevented piston skirt scuffing and cylinder bore scuffing in a 250-hp Evinrude E-TEC marine engine during more than 500 hours of real-world use at the engine’s lean-mix oil setting.
Modern manual transmissions installed in heavy-duty, over-the-road (OTR) trucks pose significant challenges to lubricants. Today's manual transmission lubricants must protect heavily loaded gears, bearings and other critical components from wear and the effects of thermal breakdown throughout extended 500,000-mile drain intervals.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Federal Test Procedure (FTP) confirms AMSOIL Premium API CJ-4 5W-40 Synthetic Diesel Oil (DEO) improves fuel economy through virtually all driving scenarios compared to conventional 15W-40 diesel oil.
Testing completed in compliance with the industry-standard SAE J1321 In-Service Fuel Consumption Test Procedure demonstrates use of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants can increase fuel economy in short- to medium-haul diesel applications and, in this case, did by 6.54 percent.
Compared with competing diesel oils, AMSOIL Premium API CJ-4 5W-40 Synthetic Diesel Oil (DEO) provided superior TBN and viscosity retention over 400 hours of severe-service operation in a refuse hauler fleet employing Navistar DT466 diesel engines, which are notoriously hard on motor oil.
Released in 2012, the Maximum Shear Stability (G2752) includes the results of testing AMSOIL 5W-40 and 15W-40 100% Synthetic Premium Diesel Oils.
Released in 2009, the Refuse Hauler Fleet Field Study (G2695) includes the results of testing AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel and Marine Motor Oil in a fleet of Nordic Waste's refuse haulers.
Introduced in July 2008, the 930,599-Mile Van brochure (G2578) features independent analysis and photos of internal engine parts from a 1999 Chevy Express delivery van that accumulated 930,599 miles using AMSOIL products.
