AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is a premium oil designed for those who demand the absolute best lubrication for their motorcycles. It is the result of extensive research and is specially formulated to excel in all areas unique to motorcycles, including the high temperatures of air-cooled engines, wet-clutch lubrication, extreme-pressure regions of gears and chains, and rust protection.

20W-40 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil

AMSOIL 15W-60 and 20W-40 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil provides Indian and Victory riders the confidence and security that comes with receiving maximum protection and performance for their bikes. It presents a premium alternative to higher-priced manufacturer-branded oils.

MVIReduces Friction, Heat and Wear
AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is engineered to protect critical components in high-heat conditions. It exceeds the standard for high-temperature film strength to deliver excellent wear protection (see graph) and contains a heavy treatment of anti-wear additives to reduce wear regardless of operating conditions. AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is thermally (heat) stable and contains maximum levels of oxidation-inhibitor additives. It is extremely resistant to breakdown and is engineered to prevent damaging sludge and carbon deposits for superior engine cleanliness.

Provides Anti-Wear Protection for Gears and Chains
AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is shear stable and resists thinning from mechanical activity. It performs like a gear lube without the negative effects of extreme-pressure additives, such as poor wet-clutch performance.

Delivers Superior Rust Protection
Motorcycles are prone to rust from storage, humidity and short drives. Rust can cause major damage, such as uncontrolled wear, compression loss and blow-by. Good rust protection, however, comes by design and is not natural to motor oils. Unlike many motorcycle oils, AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil contains special anti-rust agents, providing outstanding protection against rust and corrosion.

Catalytic-Converter Compatible
AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil meets the requirements for emission-system protection and is designed for use in motorcycles with catalytic converters.

Provides Excellent Wet-Clutch Performance
AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil delivers the confidence of quiet, smooth shifting and positive clutch engagement. It controls heat and helps prevent slippage and glazing.

APPLICATIONS
Use AMSOIL 20W-40 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil in motorcycles that require 20W-40 motorcycle oil and any of the specifications listed below, including those made by Victory* and Indian*.

  • JASO MA
  • API SM
  • ILSAC GF-4

COMPATIBILITY
AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is compatible with other conventional and synthetic motor oils. Adding other oils, however, will shorten the life expectancy of AMSOIL motor oils and reduce their performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.

Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil.

SERVICE LIFE
For on-road use in engines and transmissions: When paired with an AMSOIL Ea® Motorcycle Oil Filter, AMSOIL 20W-40 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil is capable of providing premium protection for up to 2X the motorcycle manufacturer-recommended change interval or one year, whichever comes first. Change other brand oil filters at standard intervals.

For off-road use in engines and transmissions: Change AMSOIL 20W-40 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil at the standard motorcycle manufacturer-recommended change interval.

For racing or in engines modified from the original factory design: no change interval recommendation is made; oil changes are at the owner's discretion.

I switched to AMS oil 20w50 in my 2015 Harley Davidson FLHR because both types of OEM Oils, synthetic and petroleum based, wouldn’t hold up. After 3000-4000km of hiway use I’d be down 1/2-3/4 of a litre. Bike had 25000km on it at the time. Proper break in. Leak down test proved engine was fine ect. The OEM oil just evaporated. I’ve used AMS Oil products on/off since 1979 so I gave it a try in my HD with immediate satisfaction. I change oil between 8000-10000km depending on my season or trips and add nothing between changes. Maybe down 1-2 cups of oil. It stands up. I have 140,000km on now(spring of 2022). I’ve have some friends experience the same with their Harleys. AMS Oil 10w40 is going in my Suzuki VStrom prior to my 12000km round trip to northern Alaska and back. Good stuff.

I had a engine Inspection done on my 2005 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic at sixty thousand miles. The mechanic enquired on what type of oil I used after the inspection. I told him I used the Amsoil 20w 50 for v twins. He said it would probably pay for me to stay with this product that my engine looked new.

    My go to oil

I’ve been using Amsoil for my 2016 Indian Chieftain. This oil maintains its viscosity as witnessed when my old oil is being changed out. Also, I like that this is a synthetic oil vs. the semi-synthetic blend from the OEM. Keep up the high quality Amsoil!
    Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Dealership Oil Kit - vs - Amsoil
By  DAN,  a  Verified Buyer  from  TX  on  May 16, 2022

The dealership for the Indian Chief 2022, offers an oil change kit with 5.5 quarts and filter for the same price as Amsoil 6 quarts of full Syntectic. Dealership oil is a Synthetic blend - plus the bike uses 6 quarts - you end up buying an extra quart just to get the level right. Some people call Dealership - Stealership. I'm glad I took care of my 500-mile break-in - with Amsoil full Syntectic
    Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

    Only option

V Twin for primary and motor. Even after riding hard back and forth from Orlando to Sarasota and back to Orlando same day. Oil pressure stays stable also seems to be a bit quieter than harley oil. Also run 80/90 Synthetic gear oil in trans. To me anything that has gear in it deserves dedicated gear oil especially in Florida. Shifts more consistent and quiater even after 300 miles than 20/50 motor oil. Your bike Your decision. My decision is amsoil. Be Safe
