    Oil for My Indian Chieftain

    Purchased a used Indian Chieftain with 6K miles. Been using synthetic oil in my cars for decades. Decided to go with Amsoil due to all the great reviews on the Indian forum and good wear analysis reports it gets. Dropped the oil at 7,500 and replaced it with 20W-40. I noticed that the shifting seemed smoother and the heat from the rear cylinder was less. I don't have any measurements other than the seat of my pants. I just passed 11K and changed the oil again. The old oil looked fairly clean, and 5+ quarts came out. My next change will be at 15K, and plan to send off an oil analysis to see how the engine wear is doing. So far I am very pleased with the oil and how the bike runs.

    Buying direct of Amsoil is cheaper than buying from the stores. I like to buy in bulk so I have the oil available when I'm ready to do an oil change.

    I was using Harley syn3 15w-50 in my 2021 ultra limited and i would notice a lot of engine noise when it got hot and I been riding for a while in the heat, I did some research on line and found that a lot of Harley riders love this Amsoil for just that reason so figure I try it, and man I am glad I did engine sounds great after its been ridden all day on a hot summer day.. I will never go back to syn3 I will have to see how it does when the weather gets colder on these chilly mountain morning but for now I am loving it. Oh i am also going to be using it in my 2026 tacoma Thank you Amsoil
