Notes: | (1) In 2016 when the CK-4 standard was introduced, Ford superseded the original recommendation of ESE-M2C153-E with WSS-M2C171-F1. Ford Motor Company’s position on CK-4 engine oils is the following: Ford continues to recommend motor oils meeting the Ford specification WSS-M2C171-F1 instead of CK-4 motor oils in the 3.2L and 6.7L Ford diesel engines as well as older Ford diesel engines, 4.5L, 6.0L, 6.4L and 7.3L. Testing completed on some CK-4 type formulations have shown inadaquate wear protection compared to CJ-4 formulations developed and licensed before 2016. Therefore, Ford has included additional requirements beyond CK-4 in WSSM2C171-F1 to provide additional wear protection Like many other diesel engine manufacturers, with their own internal OEM specification, Ford is recommending oils that meet, Ford Material Engineering Specification WSS-M2C171-F1. |

Specifications contained on this website are based on manufacturers' information and were believed accurate at the time of publication. Our recommendations apply to AMSOIL products only, as we cannot be responsible for products from other manufacturers. Always compare fluids and lubricants that were installed in the vehicle with those replacing them during service. Never install more fluid or lubricant than what is considered adequate according to gradients on dipstick or level of filler hole. Fill and drain locations are for reference only. Failure to perform adequate inspections or obtain proper resolution will limit or negate any liability toward AMSOIL INC. Models introduced midyear may not have the same specifications as those produced earlier.
If any discrepancies are noted, they can be simply reported to AMSOIL by clicking on the "Problem?" link docked to the left. We review all reported problems, if you would like a personal response to the issue you are reporting please enter your email address in the space provided on the form.
